A man of artistic vision
Joe Windish is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. His senior documentary video won a student Academy Award. He was a producer on the first queer television program for WNYC, 1983’s Our Time with Vito Russo, and in 2000 the first queer program to be streamed on the internet, for Pseudo Networks. He spent 12 years as the Executive Director of LMC-TV, then a not-for-profit community television corporation that included 6 production locations and 3 television studios, and programmed 3 cable television channels. While there he started a free.net, an early local Internet service.

Joe moved to Milledgeville, GA, and in 2004 opened the interactive Media Lab in Georgia College and State University’s Ina Dillard Russell Library. He created motion graphics content for the university video walls as well as various recruitment, promotional and other video projects. He went on to serve as the library’s Associate Director for Technology & Operations before leaving to move to Atlanta in 2018. He completed the script, graphics and edited the Central State Hospital Oral History documentary project, ten years in the making, in 2021 and in 2023 did the same for a BaseCamp for Veterans promotional video.
